Description
Cat Boat Jamila 1982 Sailing vessel, equipped with a single mast located at the bow and a gaff rig. This Sciarrelli design from 1975, kindly granted by the Mariano Craglietto Shipyard in Trieste.
Interior description:

A bit of history of the Cat Boat From its (possibly) Dutch origins, but especially widespread along the northeastern coasts of the USA, the “cat boats” are practical, easy to handle, and very evocative “Very strange boats.”
The designer Carlo Sciarrelli defined catboats, the cat boats with the curious name and mysterious origin. This did not prevent him from designing 5 built by the Craglietto shipyard since 1975, marked with an asterisk, which the Trieste master assigned to the projects he considered most successful. If the birth of the catboat is not certain, it is known that the Dutch had already developed a similar boat in the early 1800s; short, wide, with a flat bottom and a mast very far forward.
So much so that the name could derive from the kat, a traditional Dutch hull for transporting goods in ports. A boat that may have then arrived on the northeastern coast of the United States where it would have experienced intense development. The American naval architect Howard Chappelle places its spread around 1840. Especially in places like Cape Cod, Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island, but also in Barnegat Bay and Chesapeake Bay, in the Vineyard and Nantucket islands. Places buffeted by winds, subject to strong tides, and scattered with shallows, very suitable for this type of hull.
